Take Back the Night 2014 in Virginia

April is sexual assault awareness month and I haven't had the chance to be able to write many blog posts on the topic, but tonight I was able to attend the event I go to every year called Take Back the Night. Take back that night / day that you were attacked / abused / assaulted and be a survivor and speak up. I was planning on speaking and sharing my story of 2006 but then had to get a job in August 2013 and have been too busy to be able to put my thoughts together to write out what I wanted to say, so maybe next year. Morgan Harrington's mother spoke again this year, as well as Cara Holley's mother. It's sad to know their daughters were murdered so close to where I live.

Take back the Night has had a big impact on my life since 2010 when it started at a local college campus in April every year. I am a 2006 survivor of sexual assault. I got a tattoo to represent the awareness ribbon of sexual assault, as well as the word Survivor above it on my left wrist.

Based on a true story, sports agent JB Bernstein (Jon Hamm) finds that business has changed and things aren’t going well for his career. In a last ditch effort to save his livelihood he concocts a scheme to find baseball’s next great pitching ace. Hoping to find a young cricket pitcher he can turn into a major league baseball star, JB travels to India to produce a reality show competition called “The Million Dollar Arm.” With the help of cantankerous but eagle-eyed retired baseball scout Ray Poitevint (Alan Arkin), he discovers Dinesh (played by Madhur Mittal from “Slumdog Millionaire”) and Rinku (played by Suraj Sharma from “Life of Pi”), two 18-year-old boys who have no idea about playing baseball, yet have a knack for throwing a fastball. Hoping to sign them to major league contracts and make a quick buck, JB brings the boys home to America to train. While the Americans are definitely out of their element in India, the boys, who have never left their rural villages, are equally challenged when they come to the States. As the boys learn the finer points of baseball, JB, with the help of his charming friend Brenda (Lake Bell), learns valuable life lessons about teamwork, commitment and what it means to be a family.

Charm It Bracelet and Charms

*Disclaimer - I received the product in this post from Charm It in order to facilitate this review for my readers.

Our review of the Charm-It bracelet we received:
As many of you already know, having a little girl is fun as they get older - they love to play with makeup, wear your jewelry, and now be able to review jewelry! How cool is that? I know my daughter gets excited when I am able to get her things to review, and was very happy when I found the great company named Charm It and was told I could pick one bracelet and up to 5 charms to add onto it. My daughter is 5 years old and loves all things girl, so I knew this would be perfect for her to get for review to wear, and I was right! I was at work on break and she was napping in her class, so I decided to choose which ones I knew she would probably like, so I chose to get her the candy heart bracelet with the charms being: Cinderella heartMinnie MousePink glitter Hello KittyNail Polish, and Princess Crown. They're each priced at only $6 per charm and $16 for the Candy heart bracelet. They're well worth the small price to see the look of thrill on your little girl's face with these cute charms and bracelet!

Being a stay at home for a few months again

I am excited to be able to be a stay at home mom again, after 8 1/2 months of being a working mom, starting on April 18 until both kids start school in the fall! I miss being at home with them for sure. They are 5 and 6 and almost all of their lives I've been at home with them, so I know they'll like me being at home again too.

My last day of work is on Thursday. I'm not looking forward to saying goodbye to my buddy. It has been a great experience having to work Monday through Friday for 8 1/2 months, but it's time to be a full time mom again. I will find a job in August part time for probably 15 - 20 hours a week, since we're paying off my car with tax refund once we amend mine and re-file together. I won't need money really other than to just have extra spending money for kids and I for fun, and I will have something to keep me busy while they're in school.

Easter: Diamond Nexus

*Disclaimer - I received the products in this post from Diamond Nexus in order to facilitate this review. These earrings are specially made for kids ears, so they have a smaller post on them.

Review of these beautiful earrings received:
My daughter is 5 years old and she got her ears pierced last month, and I am very excited for her to be able to wear these once her ears heal up in May. These earrings are specially made shorter with the posts to fit smaller ears. I got the white gold earrings as our family has a history of allergic reactions to surgical steel and don't know how other jewelry will fit in her ears. These earrings are beautiful and are kept in a very nice polished wood like box, safely fitted inside on a soft white material. These earrings are priced at $99 on their website, but right now is on sale for only $79.20 for a special price! I love Diamond Nexus products; they're gorgeous in every way. I was able to work with them on a review for my Christmas Guide and my mom still loves the earrings she got that I reviewed! These are high quality earrings and other jewelry sold on their website for a great price. They are beautiful in the design, color, and shapes they come in.
